Aaton have been making film cameras since 1973 in both 16mm and 35mm formats. Known and highly regarded for their ergonomic feel, quiet operation and ease of handling, Aaton cameras are widely used in both film and television production. The first camera to be made by Aaton was the 7A which appeared in 1973 based on a design by the engineer Jean-Pierre Beauviala. Since then Aaton have been contiuously developing and introducing new models in 16mm and 35mm formats. The latest development is the Aaton Penelope, a 35mm film camera which is also ready to accept the digital magazine 6K sensor to be introduced in 2009.
