Bit Rate

Digital Signal Processing - The number of bits of information that are conveyed or processed per second

Digital Video and Audio signals are split into 'bits' of information and then processed in some way. Either recorded, manipulated or transmitted. The rate at which they are processed is affected by the amount of space or bandwidth available which in turn affects the resolution or quality of the processed signal. High quality systems use higher bit rates than lower quality systems.
