Clapper Loader

This is the person responsible for loading film into camera magazines and for marking slate & take numbers on clapper board and for marking each take.

The clapper loader really has to be on the ball and be fully aware of what film stock emulsion is needed next, and how much film is left in the magazine running at the moment so that when the DOP or Focus Puller calls for a new roll, it's already loaded and stood by. The Clapper Loader will also liase closely with the Continuity person and the Sound Mixer to make sure that the scene and take numbers are correct. Another skill of a good Clapper Loader is knowing what lens and shot size is being used so that he or she can place the Slate Board in frame without the Camera Operator needing to re-frame the shot.
