Continental Mount

The Continental Magnum Mount is a side facing aerial camera support system mainly used in helicopters for aerial filming

The Continental Mount has been around in various forms since the 1970s and is still a widely used and versatile piece of kit. The camera operator sits in the mount and is isoloted from the aircraft by suspension springs which reduce the amount of vibration transmitted to the camera in flight. The camera is held on a counter balanced arm which floats freely in space without the operator having to support its weight. The Continental mount can be further stabilised by adding gyros to the support arm. The Continental mount needs to be rigged and set up by an experienced operator or an engineer provided by the helicopter company.
