CRT
The abbreviation for Cathode Ray Tube. This is the technology behind a standard television monitor and produces an image by deflecting an electron beam in an evacuated glass envelope as it hits a flourescent screen. Because of this glass envelope, a CRT monitor usually has a large front to back dimension and is also quite heavy. LCD monitors are now replacing CRT monitors in many applications.
