Digital
A system of recording video or audio information in a simple binary "on/off" format. Digital video was first introduced by Sony in 1983 with their D1 system. Unlike analogue systems, digital video is not susceptible to degradation by noise or interference since any signal which is close to the absolute binary value is considered to be exactly that value and recorded as such. Along with error correction circuitry, this makes digital video a very robust and reliable recording format.
Digital Video can also be copied or cloned any number of times without any degradation in quality.
Examples of digital recording systems are Compact Discs (CD), DVDs, Digital Betacam, DVCAM, DVCPRO, High Definition Video.
