Flicker

Picture flicker is caused when the frame rate of the film or video is out of sync with the frequency of the light source. For example if a sequence is shot in at 25 fps or 50i using lights running at 60 hertz as in the USA then the resulting picture will flicker unacceptably. Flicker can also occur when running the camera at non sync speeds ie. overcranking or undercranking to achieve slow or fast motion effects. This can be eliminated by using flicker free lighting. Flicker will not occur if filming in daylight or with incandescent lighting sources.
