General View / GV
General View is often abbreviated to GV and this term appears in a script, storyboard or shotlist.
A GV is a general view of the environment, building, interior, vehicle, production process, activity or just about anything you're shooting. It's used to give a general overview what's surrounding your story. Most of the time the director or the script will call for GVs (plural) and these will be a number of general shots which will be helpful in the edit to describe the scene generally. GVs generally don't refer to any specific piece of action so continuity should not an issue.
