Graduated filter

Picture of Neutral Density Graduated Filters
An optical glass or resin filter with a clear section which gradually fades into either a colour or a neutral density grey
The filter is placed in front of a camera's lens in a filter holder or matte box. It is commonly used to reduce the brightness of sky in relation to the landscape or to add a colour effect to the skyline as in a sunset for example. Graduated filters come in a range of colours and densities and can be either soft edged or hard edged. Filters can also be custom made to meet specific requirements
