An abbreviation for Light Emitting Diode. A type of light source.
LED light sources have recently become available as television and film lighting instruments. They have the advantage of consuming very little power and emitting a good level of light output whilst generating very little heat. Because leds are small, the lighting units are compact, lightweight and easy to handle.
