Non sync sound

Sound which is not synchronised with picture. Wild tracks or atmosphere, room tone

Sound which accompanies picture but does not have to be in sync. This type of sound can often be recorded 'wild' or as a 'wild track'

Examples of non sync sound

  • Exterior of a church where the congregation are heard (but not seen) singing
  • Over the shoulder shot where the speaker's mouth is not seen
  • Very wide shot where the action is too small to be seen in sync
