For example, in a car driving sequence, you'll probably film the person driving the car and an exterior shot of the car moving along. Pointing the camera forward, looking through the windscreen gives a shot of the road ahead or the driver's Point of View so the camera sees what the driver is seeing. POV shots are very common and used in all sorts of situations.
