Super 35 Aspect Ratio
Super 35 is a widescreen format aspect ratio for 35mm film production.
It can be used to film images in either the 2.35:1 or the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and does this by composing the image using a ground glass marked for the ratio being used. Effectively, it "letterboxes" the image and discards the top and bottom of the negative. The disadvantage of this method is that it uses less of the available negative and results in a lower resolution image when compared to anamorphic 2.35:1
