Tascam

An 8 track audio tape.

In television post production terms, a Tascam is an 8 track tape used for laying out the 8 individual tracks from a final mix, and therefore is used as an international deliverable with your picture and sound master. This enables another broadcaster to replace, for example, the narration with a different language version whilst keeping all the spot effects and music in place.

It's also known as a DA88.
