A gyro stabilised camera mount which is attached to the outside of the aircraft.
The Wescam is an ultra stable camera mount system and is normally used to house a 35mm film camera such as the Arriflex 435. Wescam can be side or front mounted and is controlled by a remote pan and tilt system which is operated from inside the aircraft. It can pan through 360 degrees and is great fo dynamic forward looking shots. Because it is so stable, it can be used with a long
focal length zoom lens to achieve very tight shots which can then zoom out to reveal a wide panorama. The Wescam mount needs to be fitted by an engineer and will usually be provided by the helicopter company.
