Our previous soundperson really wasn't up to scratch so there was a lot of pressure on James to deliver from the very first day and we are very happy with his work. "Royal Holloway College University of London Department of Drama and Theatre recruited James Gray in March 2010 to work as a free-lance IT / film technician overseeing London University students working in the Drama Departments Digital Studio. His key responsibilities were to supervise, assist and instruct students working with various software creating video and audio effects/ cues for productions and final degree course assessment. James immediately grasped the fundamentals of the software and equipment that the drama dept have installed requiring limited induction. He was obviously drawing on his broad knowledge in this area. An immediate relationship was built with the students and they quickly came to trust his advice and direction as they explored the various possibilities the equipment presented them with. During the three months James worked with the students material of consistently high standard was presented for assessment and performance.
James is consistently punctual, polite, reliable, helpful, respectful and all the time maintaining a sense of humour. He is the technician of choice when the department require free-lancers to work on projects. I have no hesitation in recommending and commending this young capable professional. Please fell free to contact me; care of Royal Holloway College should you require more information."
Sean Brennan – Production Manager – London University.
"As both writer and director of "3's A Crowd" I knew pretty much what I wanted to see from the finished piece. James instinctively knew what my vision was after just looking at the script and discussion on the first day. He is first class at choosing the correct lighting and nothing was too much trouble for him through the whole shoot. He even did a first edit for me which saved me a lot of time and effort. Brilliant to work with."
