Knowledgeable, ingenious and enthusiastic, Mary is the perfect sound recordist to have on a shoot who always becomes fully involved with the story you are trying to tell. With a passion for sound and an encyclopaedic knowledge of microphones and mixers, she more than records sound: her recordings capture atmosphere and add breadth to documentaries, drama and factual alike. From subjects that require great sensitivity to the tongue in cheek, Mary is a natural with contributors who instinctively puts presenters, actors or real people at ease. And apart from an (understandable) hatred of lawn mowers and microlights she is often the sunniest person on location!
I have been working freelance in location sound for some 20 years. I have worked on all sorts of documentary projects all over the world. I've worked on feature length documentaries such as "Sisters in Law" and "The Day I Will Never Forget" for Channel 4. Many observational docs for the BBC including "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Vets in Practice". I also work regularly on one off documentaries and strands like "Countryfile", "Flog It", "Dispatches", "Panorama" as well as regional docs and series. Own full kit.
