As an independent Internal Communications Manager working for large corporates, I employed Matt to manage, direct and produce three separate corporate videos (two for BP and one for Alstom Power). For each, the task was to create a video that informed and engaged employees, and this was achieved beyond expectation. Matt approached the development and production with creativity, humour and exceptional organisation. He was able to quickly grasp the complex messages and develop a way to impart them simply but maturely through creative storytelling. If a problem arose he dealt with it head on and, where no obvious solution could be found, was able to come up with an alternative way to resolve it. The end products were imaginative and very different from the usual corporate video, leaving employees interested and keen to know more. And finally, the quality, on tight budgets, would have stood happily next to far more expensive productions. I would highly recommend Matt and can confidently say he would step up to any challenge and find a creative way to tackle it.

Biography

I am a flexible and self-motivated P/D with a strong background in making wildlife, science and adventure documentaries for the UK, US and International markets. My passion is great storytelling whatever the subject.

As a Director I have covered a range of styles (and budgets), including ambitious cinematographic projects, re-cons, obs-doc and archive based shows. I get a real buzz from writing and have produced the script for many a show that I’ve worked on.

I have the sensitivity and tact to work with a range of contributors, from presenters to the public. I also thrive on the challenge of development and welcome any opportunity that expands my experience in this area further.

So far, I have pitched my ideas to comissioners and controllers at FIVE and the BBC THREE. Similarly, I have sucessfully pitched ideas to major corporate clients, and have gone-on to make them videos that are out of the corporate norm with the aim of making employees sit-up and listen rather than lean back and yawn.
