It's vital to make sure that you are meeting technical compliance at every stage of production.
As a Producer or Production Manager, you probably don't need to understand fully each aspect of the Technical Specifications. Your role is rather to make sure that your post production facility fully understands the Tech Spec and that they are referring back to it at each separate stage to ensure compliance.
The final stage of checking for technical compliance is at your post production facility's in-house technical review where a full copy of the Tech Spec should be available for the reviewer. Ideally, the reviewer should be a person who has not worked on the post production of the film. In this way, they are fresh to the film and can more readily spot any technical as well as editorial discrepancies.
