Biography

Between 1991 and 1994, Richard Maxwell (A.K.A. Max) studied film and documentary production in Wales, finishing with a postgraduate diploma with distinction from the Center for Journalism Studies, University College of Wales Cardiff. He has won a Royal Television Society award for his final documentary project 'Slapps' which he shot and edited and a Grammy nomination for Coldplay Tour Diary DVD which he shot. Over the last ten years Max has filmed all over the world in varying conditions from the heat of Hawaiian volcanoes and the jungles of Belize to the cold of an Alpine ski resort and worked for most of the major broadcasters and independent production companies. Training has included Toshiba min-cam rigging for car, motor bike, helicopters, and lifeboats, further OTJ training on Sony 570 & 790 camcorders and BBC courses on 'Dealing with Aggression' and ‘Handling Long Term Documentary Contributors’. IT skills, Owner and operator of 'on line' Final Cut Pro edit suite, and a portable Final Cut Pro suite. I have cut films with Avid media Composer, Media 100 and DV Express. Skills utilized on previous productions include Sailing, Skiing, Skateboarding, Driving and Surfing. Previous work experience includes Residential Youth Worker, Deck Hand in the North Sea, Warehouse Manager and Film Extra. Max holds a USA I visa, full car and motorbike licenses and trades as Devious Films Ltd.
