I had the pleasure of working with Sam for 9 weeks in the Arabian Gulf. We were working on high def using prime lenses with some tricky focus pulls and Sam coped admirably. Always on time, even for a few 0300 call times, Sam looked after the camera kit as well as organising transport and making sure that we had the right lights, grip kit and cameras for every shoot.
He's well organised, knowledgeable, cheerful and very good company. Highly recommended.
I have recently had the privilege of working with Sam on a two month assignment in Qatar. I can honestly say that he is one of the best assistants I have ever worked with. Despite having to service two cameramen and two camera channels in often very hot and difficult situations I never heard a word of complaint from him. He was at all times a hard working and good natured member of the crew who took his responsibility of maintaining the equipment very seriously.
I have no hesitation in recommending him to any production company looking for a valuable crew member and I certainly look forward to working with him again in the future.
I have also Directed, Shot and Edited a number of short Documentaries. Here are a few samples.
Sam graduated from Newport Film School in 2009 with a Degree in Documentary Film and Television. With a strong aspiration to become a Documentary Lighting Cameraman, Sam has over the past two years, been lucky enough to work on a variety of productions covering a range of genres. He has so far worked in nine countries, he has experienced filming in the extreme heat of the Qatar Desert and is equally happy working in the extreme cold, he also has experience with aerial filming.
Having worked on BBC Casualty for a year as a Loader Sam gained invaluable skills. He has learnt and will continue to learn from the many professionals he has met so far.
Sam has filmed his own short documentaries and has filmed for a number of clients with various sized budgets. He has found himself on a last minute flight to Barbados to film cricket for a new television channel and he has shot a number of corporate films, Live Events and student dramas. These experiences have all been extremely worth while and have enabled him to work with people he may not meet otherwise. People and the natural world play an important role in his decision to become a Documentary Cameraman.
Sam has ambition, he is always willing to learn and gain as much experience as possible. He has a realistic and meticulous attitude with his work and looks forward to his future.
