I spent 10 years working and training as an Assistant Cameraman on a diverse selection of projects; broadcast and non-broadcast, film and video, alongside some of the most experienced technicians in the business.
During that time I learnt not only the technical aspects of what is expected of a cameraman, but also the techniques of shooting and directing for single camera, documentary and drama lighting, interview and journalistic methods. Probably the most important things that I learnt were the interpersonal skills required to be able to work with an ever changing crew, different contributors and members of the public. These skills have helped me to get the most out of my crew, interviewees and also have helped me to talk my way out of sticky situations both in the UK and abroad!
After ten years training, I felt ready to branch out on my own and started working as an operator and subsequently lighting cameraman.
My work crosses most of the programme boundaries, from single to multi camera, magazine to sport to documentary, pop promo’s to training videos; references can be provided.
I can provide kits based around all of the current broadcast formats both tape and solid-state, HD to SD as well as cranes, jibs and track. Kit lists appropriate to your production are available on request.
I pride myself in my adaptability and also being able to keep on working professionally in any circumstances, whatever the weather, wherever I am and however long the day has become.
