I worked with Simon for the first time in October 09 when we filmed inserts for a Sky1 production on the Isle of Mull & the Solway Firth. Simon never missed a beat in spite of the sometimes hectic nature of the 'observational' style filming. Technically brilliant. Like all good sound recordists, the sound just 'happened' without any fuss or downtime. A great team player, attentive, calm and jolly fine company on some of the long car journeys.
I am a BAFTA nominated sound recordist with over twenty five years experience on ‘Blue Chip’ factual documentary and wildlife films. I have worked on more than fifty major expeditions across five continents in some of the remotest areas on the planet.
I have a proven track record of delivering high quality audio whilst working in extreme conditions - temperatures of -50 C to +50 C and from 1,100 meters underground to altitudes in excess of 6000 meters. Equally at home on small or large scale expeditions I work regularly in the harsh arctic environments of Greenland and Canada and have spent considerable time working in remote regions of Central Asia and Africa as well as the jungles of south east Asia and South America. I have worked extensively in the high alpine areas of Europe, the Andes and Himalayas including three expeditions to Mt Everest.
I have worked on numerous high profile documentaries for various organisations including the BBC, ZDF Germany, NHK Japan as well as PBS and Discovery in the US.
I am the holder of a current US I visa valid to 2021
The lowest point of my professional career so far was throwing up over the celebrity chef Rick Stein but high points have included working on the Oscar short-listed documentary Blindsight and being told to f*** off by John Prescott.
